Ending Carceral Harm, Organizing Prisoners' Voices, and Shaping Policy

Criminalization is not keeping us safe...

…it disproportionately impacts communities of color and marginalized communities.

The perpetuation of racism and violence through incarceration is no historic accident. Rather, it has remained in effect due to unjust laws still in place.

The Prisoners’ Brain Trust aims to promote safer communities by addressing systemic violence built in New York law, harming Black & Brown & marginalized communities.

Each member of PBT brings their full carceral and personal experiences into our work to dissect how policies impact and intersect our lives and communities.

We have 5 legislative demands.

The Prisoners’ Brain Trust was founded by incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people to ensure that our community, not the state, carries the torch of memory and action.
